Best Japanese food in Ventura County! The owner, Yukari, will answer all your questions and treat you to daily favorites as you enjoy a very small and popular Kushiyaki (meat of a stick) Restaurant. Having lived in Japan for three years I can tell you this place is the real deal.

Authentic Japanese food made with the utmost love and care for the food and for their customers. Yukari and her apprentices elevate each little piece into perfectly grilled meats and vegetables with just the right, satisfying flavor. Her well curated selection of fine Japanese beers and sakes are amazing and will perfectly complement every bite. It's not cheap but if you appreciate well made good you'll understand after your visit!

Unpretentious, quick service here. One long L-shaped counter (no tables) and not the most handsome interior, but friendly people. The food is Izakaya, lots of inexpensive skewers and other small dishes (think Japanese tapas)... All were good, but not memorable. The sake list is limited but we tried a decent dry sake from Japan. Coming from the Bay Area, we're partial to places like Ippuku, that set the bar high...so really 3.5 stars. And although we're not experts on food in Ventura...it seemed quite popular among locals. Lots of energy, and a packed house.
